Radda MCH-FP Centre demolished in midnight raid in Mirpur

The Radda MCH-FP Centre, a 50-year-old maternal and child healthcare facility in Mirpur-1, Dhaka, was demolished during a midnight raid by a large group of masked individuals. The attack involved the use of an excavator to destroy buildings and resulted in the looting of essential medical supplies, including vaccines, registers, and an ultrasound machine. The destruction has severely disrupted vital health services for hundreds of low-income families, forcing health workers to continue vaccinations under makeshift conditions without electricity or water.

In response to the incident, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has withdrawn Shah Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Alam for administrative reasons following allegations of police negligence. Critics and health professionals have raised concerns that the raid occurred in the presence of law enforcement, suggesting a failure to protect the humanitarian institution. A three-member investigation committee has been formed to look into the matter.
