Rade Šerbedžija addresses heritage and neglect of Lika

Actor Rade Šerbedžija has addressed his heritage and the current state of the Lika region in Croatia. Identifying as a Serb from Croatia, born in Bunić, he emphasized his deep connection to the land, stating that his identity is inseparable from the mountains, forests, and landscapes of Lika.

Šerbedžija criticized the neglect of the Lika region, noting that areas previously inhabited by Serbs became desolate following the mass exodus during Operation Storm. He argued that there has been a lack of effective policy to support those wishing to return, leading to a failure to revitalize the area economically, culturally, or socially.

Additionally, the actor expressed concern regarding environmental issues in the region, specifically mentioning waste management problems. He suggested that Lika possesses significant untapped potential for tourism and the export of clean water due to its natural resources.
