Radek Šiler transfers from Podbrezová to Rio Ave

Czech striker Radek Šiler has transferred from the Slovak club FK Železiarne Podbrezová to the Portuguese side Rio Ave. The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract with his new club.

Šiler, who joined Podbrezová in July of last year, was the second-highest scorer in the Niké liga last season with 13 goals. He has also started the current season with three goals in six matches. At Rio Ave, he will reunite with former Podbrezová teammate Roland Galčík.

Miroslav Poliaček, general manager of Podbrezová, stated that the club recognized Šiler's ambition to progress to a higher level since the start of the summer preparations. He noted that while Šiler arrived as a relatively unknown player, the club is proud of his development and views the transfer as excellent advertisement for the club's ability to move players into high-quality European competitions.
