India's Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan addressed a gathering in Coimbatore after the inauguration of the GK NM Group College of Nursing. He praised the G. Kuppuswami Naidu Charitable Trust for expanding its hospital from 50 to 750 beds and highlighted the vital role of nurses in delivering compassionate care.

Radhakrishnan emphasized the impact of the Ayushman Bharat (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) scheme, noting that around 440 million people now receive health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. He also referred to the Pradhan Mantri Vay Vandana Yojana for senior citizens, the ongoing digitisation of health services, and the importance of preventive measures such as eliminating anemia, ensuring healthy pregnancies, and improving nutrition from infancy to adolescence. The Vice President called for greater public awareness of organ and eye donation as life‑saving actions.
