Porto Alegre emergency simulation features unprecedented helicopter landing

Various regional updates across Brazil include a major emergency simulation in Porto Alegre. A Federal Highway Police (PRF) helicopter performed an unprecedented landing on Avenida Osvaldo Aranha to test aeromedical transport protocols. The exercise, coordinated with Fraport Brasil at Salgado Filho International Airport, simulated an aircraft crash to evaluate the Airport Emergency Plan (Plea) and the response of multiple health and security agencies, highlighting the lack of a helipad at the Hospital de Pronto Socorro (HPS).

In other regions, infrastructure and transit updates are underway. In São Paulo, BRT construction on Avenida Alcântara Machado has altered reversible lane operations on Radial Leste. In Várzea Grande, the Júlio Müller Bridge will face weekend closures for BRT-related structural work. Additionally, traffic in Itabira will be impacted by electrical maintenance by Cemig, and Ermelino Matarazzo will see bus route diversions due to road closures.

In Rio Grande do Sul, the Military Firefighters (CBMRS) have opened applications for 440 temporary civilian lifeguard positions for the 2026/2027 summer season. Meanwhile, Florianópolis is hosting its first Acampamento Farroupilha, a three-day cultural event celebrating Gaucho traditions through music, gastronomy, and community activities.
