Radical Party congress in Dijon focuses on unity and tribute

The Radical Party held its 126th national congress in Dijon, featuring discussions on political unity and a tribute to a deceased statesman.

During the event, Gabriel Attal and Édouard Philippe both advocated for a broad gathering of the central political bloc. Attal expressed support for the widest possible alliance, ranging from social democrats to the republican right. Édouard Philippe agreed on the necessity of such a movement but cautioned against a mere mechanical addition of party apparatuses. He expressed opposition to a central bloc primary, arguing that such processes can lead to ad hominem attacks and political division.

The congress also served as a venue to honor François Patriat, a former minister, president of the Bourgogne region, and senator, who passed away on August 19 at the age of 83. Maxime Moulazadeh, Secretary General of the Côte-d’Or Radical Federation, delivered a speech remembering Patriat as a significant figure in both regional and national politics.
