Radio Amateur Community of Herceg Bosna celebrates 34th anniversary

The Radio Amateur Community of Herceg Bosna celebrated its 34th anniversary with a gathering at Blidinje Nature Park. The event included participation from radio amateurs from Croatia, highlighting cross-border cooperation. The program featured a radio amateurism workshop and presentation specifically designed for children, alongside the activation of radio amateur connections directly from the park area.

Founded in 1992 in Široki Brijeg by HVO war radio operators, the voluntary non-profit organization now includes over 1,200 members. The community focuses on technical culture, electronics, and satellite communications. The association maintains a critical communication system used by Mountain Rescue Services (GSS), which serves as a vital backup during natural disasters or emergencies when conventional mobile and telephone networks fail, such as during the heavy snowstorms of 2012.
