Radio Nikkei suspends second broadcast due to typhoon power outages

Radio Nikkei has announced the suspension of its second broadcast service, Radio Nikkei Dai-2, for September 25 due to power outages caused by Typhoon No. 25. The suspension affects both shortwave broadcasts and the internet radio service radiko.

The outages originated at the Nagara Transmission Station in Chiba Prefecture, where power has been unstable since September 21. While the station initially attempted to maintain operations using emergency generators and reduced-power broadcasting, the company stated that securing sufficient power to sustain normal operations has become difficult.

Radio Nikkei Dai-1 will continue to broadcast using reduced power, and its radiko service remains operational. The company has not yet determined when Dai-2 services will resume and will provide updates via its official website and social media channels as the situation develops.
