Radio Orthodoxia celebrates 25 years of broadcasting
Radio Orthodoxia, the first Orthodox radio station in Poland, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Based in Białystok, the station operates as a social broadcaster for the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, relying on volunteer work and broadcasting without commercial advertisements.
To mark the milestone, a solemn liturgy was held at the Holy Spirit Church in Białystok, led by Archbishop Jakub of Białystok and Gdańsk. The celebrations also included events at the Supraśl Academy. During the ceremonies, the station was recognized for its role in promoting the region and engaging with elderly and socially excluded populations.
Since its inception in December 2001, the station has expanded its reach. Originally limited to Białystok, it increased its transmitter power in 2018 and expanded its coverage to Sokółka, Bielsk Podlaski, and Siemiatycze by the end of 2020. The station currently broadcasts five hours of programming daily, focusing on religious and social news from the Orthodox community.
