Radio PiK website hijacked to spread fake news about Czech territory
Hackers launched a cyberattack on the website of Radio PiK, a station based in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on August 16. The attackers gained access to the system using an employee's password to spread disinformation regarding Polish-Czech relations.
The hackers published a fake article claiming that Poland intended to occupy parts of Czech territory. This was accompanied by a coordinated disinformation campaign involving social media accounts impersonating the Czech Ambassador to Poland, Brzetysław Dancak, and Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Artur Harazim.
Investigators believe the campaign utilized artificial intelligence to create forged documents and videos. The Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime is currently investigating the incident to identify the perpetrators. Radio PiK has since removed the false content and informed the public of the breach.
