Radio RST launches on DAB+ digital radio in Germany

Radio RST has added DAB+ transmission to its service, allowing listeners in the Münsterland, Osnabrück and Ruhrgebiet regions to receive the station with clearer, digital sound in cars, homes and on the move. The broadcaster will continue to broadcast on FM and online streams.

The expansion comes as DAB+ adoption in Germany rises. The latest Audio Trends report shows that 34.5 % of the population now falls within the DAB+ reach (WHK), up from 32.9 % a year earlier, with 40 % of households owning a DAB+ device and roughly one‑quarter of cars equipped with a receiver. New transmitters are expected to increase national coverage to more than 80 million people – over 92 % of the population – with mobile reception already above 98 % and highway coverage exceeding 99 %. More than 300 radio programmes are now available via DAB+, including over 100 digital‑only stations, expanding the listening options for German audiences.

The rollout reflects the broader trend of digitalisation in German broadcasting, as DAB+ becomes the standard for new vehicles and a growing share of listeners shift from traditional FM to digital platforms.
