Radiotherapy Department Opens at Ptolemaida Hospital with Health Minister Georgiadi’s Backing

The Bodosaikeio Hospital in Ptolemaida has inaugurated a new radiotherapy department, a project long promised by Health Minister Adoni Georgiadi. Vasilis Karapintsi, honorary president of the Eordia Cancer Patients Association, issued an open letter thanking the minister for fulfilling the pledge made at the February 2024 Federation of Cancer meeting and criticizing Anti‑Regional Governor Fountoglou for failing to acknowledge the real contributors of the effort.

Karapintsi notes that a feasibility study was completed in February 2025, followed by a municipal tender to establish an integrated oncology clinic at the same hospital. He recounts meetings with the hospital’s director, K. Ketikidis, and with the minister and deputy minister Themistokleous that helped secure the unit’s implementation.
