Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit becomes Africa's first Verified Net Zero hotel

The Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit in South Africa's Limpopo province has become the first hotel on the African continent to achieve Verified Net Zero status. The 138-room property, located near Kruger National Park, utilizes 100% renewable electricity through a combination of on-site solar generation and renewable energy procurement.

To reduce its environmental footprint, the hotel has implemented several electrification and waste management initiatives, including electric kitchen equipment, heat pumps for hot water, and electric utility vehicles. The facility also features an on-site wastewater treatment plant to recycle all water and has introduced carbon-labelled menus to promote sustainable dining.

The hotel's credentials were independently verified by TÜV Rheinland, covering Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. This milestone is part of the Radisson Hotel Group's broader goal to establish 100 Verified Net Zero hotels globally by 2030.
