Radom establishes new sanctuary for Blessed Michael McGivney

The Parish of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Radom, Poland, is being established as a diocesan sanctuary dedicated to Blessed Michael McGivney. McGivney was the founder of the Knights of Columbus, the world's largest Catholic fraternal organization for men.

This site will serve as the second pilgrimage center globally associated with the Knights of Columbus, the first being the Church of Our Lady of Mercy in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, which also serves as McGivney's final resting place. The upcoming ceremony in Radom will include participation from Bishop Marek Solarczyk of the Radom diocese and Archbishop Wacław Depo, the national chaplain of the Knights of Columbus in Poland.

Father Wiesław Lenartowicz, the parish priest, noted that McGivney's mission focused on supporting and evangelizing families by forming men to be pillars of their households. The Knights of Columbus was founded in October 1881 in New Haven following McGivney's initiative.
