Radom politicians call for financial recovery program
Law and Justice (PiS) councilors in Radom have called for a financial recovery program for the city, criticizing a planned 100 million PLN municipal bond issuance. The bond issuance, scheduled for consideration by the City Council on October 26, is intended to finance the projected budget deficit for 2026.
Councilors reported that Radom's total debt has reached 1.6 billion PLN. They argued against increasing the burden on residents through property tax hikes and instead urged President Radosław Witkowski to seek savings within the city administration, municipal units, and ongoing investments. Specific areas identified for potential cost-cutting include the Municipal Labor Office, administrative costs, and oversight of investments, such as the third stage of the N-S route, which has seen significant cost increases.
Additionally, councilors expressed concerns regarding the adequacy of funds allocated for teacher and education worker salaries for the remainder of the year.
