Radosław Fic debuts at European Para Fencing Championships

Polish para fencer Radosław Fic made his debut at the European Para Fencing Championships in Cardiff, finishing in sixth place in the Category C épée tournament. After winning one match in the group stage, Fic was defeated in the quarterfinals by Serhij Szeptycki of Ukraine, who went on to become the tournament vice-champion.

Fic, who began his journey with para fencing approximately five years ago following an accident in 2020, credited his coach, Grzegorz Pluta, for his development. Pluta is a decorated Paralympic champion from the 2012 London Games. Fic expressed a desire to encourage other people with disabilities to pursue competitive sports, noting that while he initially used fencing for rehabilitation, he eventually sought to compete at a higher level.
