Radosław Kałużny recalls experiences at Bayer Leverkusen

Former Polish footballer Radosław Kałużny has shared recollections of his time playing in Germany, specifically during his tenure at Bayer Leverkusen. In a recent podcast, Kałużny discussed the challenges of facing ethnic stereotypes during the early 2000s.

He recounted an instance involving coach Klaus Augenthaler, who reportedly warned players to hide their phones and wallets upon his entry into the locker room, reflecting the negative stereotypes of Polish nationals at the time. Kałużny also commented on the professional dynamics at the club, noting the vast wage gap between himself and star players like Lucio, who earned significantly more.

Additionally, Kałużny described his experiences with coaching staff, including a second-team coach who he claimed treated him poorly and used him as a target for disciplinary training. Despite these difficulties, Kałużny noted that his time in the Bundesliga provided him with opportunities to compete in the Champions League.
