Radosław Sikorski and Adam Bielan clash over US-Poland relations

A political dispute has escalated between Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and MEP Adam Bielan regarding Poland's strategic relations with the United States and the management of military cooperation.

Adam Bielan accused Sikorski of undermining previous initiatives for US missile defense bases in Poland, specifically referencing the historical context of the Redzikowo base. Bielan also claimed to have assisted in organizing a meeting between Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Donald Trump to facilitate negotiations regarding a US military base.

Sikorski responded by questioning the accuracy of Bielan's claims, asserting that he personally signed the agreement for the Redzikowo base and noting that the project was ultimately canceled by the Obama administration in 2010. Sikorski further emphasized his role as the head of the European Parliament delegation for US relations and criticized Bielan's actions as attempts to serve partisan interests rather than the democratic government of Poland.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the reported meeting between Kosiniak-Kamysz and Trump, noting that the details of such discussions were presented to him in March and that the substantive content remains confidential due to its discretionary nature.
