Radosław Sikorski demands explanations after attack on diplomatic convoy

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski held discussions with his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa'ar, following an attack on a diplomatic convoy in the West Bank. The incident involved illegal Israeli settlers surrounding vehicles belonging to a delegation that included representatives from Poland, France, and Belgium, during which a window in one vehicle was broken. No diplomats were injured.

Sikorski emphasized that Israel is an occupying power in the West Bank and Gaza, carrying specific obligations under international law to ensure the physical safety of journalists and diplomats. He demanded urgent explanations from Israel and expressed hope that settlers would cease terrorizing civilian populations.

The discussions also touched upon Poland's potential participation in a UK-led initiative involving 12 nations to restrict trade in goods originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied territories. Sikorski warned that the international community would not remain silent if actions such as ethnic cleansing were to occur.
