Radosław Sikorski warns of Russian hybrid warfare in Europe

Radosław Sikorski hybrid warfare NATO Russia-Ukraine war European security

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has warned in a CNN interview that Russia is conducting a hybrid war against Poland and other European nations. He noted that these tactics, which include cyberattacks, disinformation, and sabotage, result in human casualties and aim to destabilize the region.

Sikorski emphasized that international pressure must be increased on Vladimir Putin rather than on Ukraine to end the conflict. He argued that Ukraine must emerge from the war with defensible borders. Regarding European leverage, Sikorski cited frozen Russian central bank assets, over 20 EU sanction packages, and the loss of the European oil and gas market as critical tools.

Additionally, diplomatic reports suggest that Russia may use upcoming peace negotiations in Abu Dhabi to demand a reduction in NATO's presence in Eastern Europe. One potential demand includes restoring NATO's European presence to 1997 levels, which would necessitate the withdrawal of Alliance troops from Poland.
