Radosław Sikorski sparks controversy over comments on Roman Dmowski
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has sparked controversy following an interview with the Ukrainian portal Europejska Prawda. During the discussion, Sikorski stated that the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) possessed a fascist ideology.
When the interviewer suggested that Roman Dmowski, a key figure in Poland's independence, shared similar ideological views, Sikorski did not reject the comparison. Instead, he described Dmowski as a “controversial figure.”
The remarks drew sharp criticism from the Polish Presidency. Marcin Przydacz, Head of the International Policy Bureau for the President of Poland, condemned the remarks, noting that Dmowski was one of the fathers of Polish independence and criticizing the lack of a firm defense against attempts to equate a national hero with war criminals.
