Radosław Sikorski's emergency preparedness sparks Russian response

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has discussed his personal emergency preparedness following questions regarding whether he maintains an evacuation backpack. In an interview, Sikorski stated that he has followed official safety instructions, which include knowing the location of nearby shelters, knowing how to apply bandages, and maintaining food reserves such as rice and homemade preserves.

In response to these comments, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, posted a provocative message on Telegram. She suggested that instead of an evacuation kit, Sikorski requires haloperidol, a potent antipsychotic medication used to treat conditions such as schizophrenia and severe anxiety.

During the discussion, Sikorski addressed concerns regarding a potential armed conflict between Russia and NATO member states. He emphasized that NATO is a purely defensive alliance and that Poland must remain prepared for deterrence, citing Russia’s previous actions in Georgia and Ukraine. He noted that only Vladimir Putin knows the true intentions regarding potential conflict.
