Raevan Howard elected Tuscaloosa City Council president pro tempore
Raevan Howard, the District 2 Councilor for Tuscaloosa, has been unanimously elected as the president pro tempore of the Tuscaloosa City Council. This appointment makes her the first Black woman to hold the leadership position in the council.
Howard succeeds Kip Tyner, who passed away earlier this month after serving nearly 29 years on the council. In her new role, Howard will continue the work of her predecessor while representing West Tuscaloosa. She currently chairs the Public Safety Committee and serves on several other municipal committees, including Finance and Community Development.
