RAF deploys Rivet Joint intelligence aircraft to Norway for Arctic Stone

The Royal Air Force (RAF) has deployed a Rivet Joint intelligence-gathering aircraft to Ørland, Norway, for the week-long Exercise Arctic Stone. The deployment involves training alongside the Royal Norwegian Air Force to improve interoperability between the Rivet Joint platform and Norway’s F-35A fighter fleet.

Operated by 51 Squadron, the Rivet Joint specializes in monitoring signals across the electromagnetic spectrum to provide real-time strategic and tactical intelligence. The mission combines airborne collection with ground-based analysis from No. 54 Signals Unit to enhance situational awareness. The exercise aims to strengthen NATO’s intelligence coverage and defense posture in the High North as regional security demands evolve.
