RAF Hawk T2 training jet crashes on Anglesey after pilots eject

Two Royal Air Force pilots successfully ejected from a Hawk T2 training jet after it experienced difficulties shortly after takeoff from RAF Valley on Anglesey, North Wales. The aircraft subsequently crashed in the Pencarnisiog area, resulting in a large fireball and thick black smoke.

Both pilots were treated for minor injuries and are expected to make a full recovery. Emergency services, including North Wales Police, fire and rescue, and air ambulances, responded to the scene. There have been no reports of injuries to people on the ground or significant damage to residential properties, though debris fell near homes and holiday caravans.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing orange flames during the aircraft's acceleration and observed the jet pitching violently in the air before the crew ejected. The Royal Air Force has temporarily suspended all Hawk T1 and T2 flying operations as a precautionary measure while a formal investigation into the cause of the incident is conducted.
