RAF Shadow R1 aircraft conducts surveillance mission over Gibraltar

A Royal Air Force (RAF) Shadow R1 intelligence aircraft, registration ZZ507, conducted a surveillance mission over Gibraltar and its surrounding waters. The aircraft performed multiple orbits around the Rock and the Strait, covering areas to the south, east, and west of the territory during a mission lasting approximately two hours.

The Shadow R1 is a tactical platform based on the Beechcraft King Air 350, specifically designed for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) tasks. It is equipped with high-definition electro-optical and electronic sensors, satellite communications, and self-protection systems to gather and transmit data for operational decision-making.
