Meta faces pressure over scam ads as Rafał Brzoska launches ScamWatch
Rafał Brzoska, head of InPost, has launched a new initiative titled ‘150% stop scam’ to combat fraudulent advertising on Meta platforms. Brzoska estimates that scam advertisements generate up to 20 million PLN daily for Meta in Poland. The initiative proposes that platforms profiting from fraudulent content should be required to return 150% of the revenue gained from such ads.
To support this fight, Brzoska and Sebastian Kondracki of Bielik.AI have introduced ScamWatch, an AI-driven tool designed to detect, document, and link entire networks of scam operations rather than just individual ads. The project has already gathered nearly 100,000 signatures for a petition.
The issue has gained political traction, with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski engaging in the matter. Gawkowski has requested explanations from Meta regarding its ability to detect false content and has submitted a formal request to the European Commission to fine the platform 250 million euros.
