Spain and Chile announce rosters for Davis Cup qualifying tie

Spain and Chile have announced their respective rosters for the upcoming Davis Cup qualifying tie, scheduled for September 19 and 20 at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago.

Spain's team, captained by David Ferrer, will compete without Carlos Alcaraz, who is recovering from a wrist injury. Instead, the squad will be led by 19-year-old Rafael Jódar, currently ranked 11th in the ATP, marking his debut as the team's number one. He is joined by Dani Mérida, Martín Landaluce, Jaume Munar, and Pedro Martínez. Ferrer noted the high level of commitment from the young players despite their recent heavy travel schedule.

Chile, captained by Nicolás Massú, will face Spain without Nicolás Jarry, who is sidelined due to an elbow injury. The Chilean lineup features Alejandro Tabilo (ranked 29th), Cristian Garín, Tomás Barrios, and Matías Soto, with a potential fifth player to be named. The winner of this tie will secure a place in the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, Italy.
