Rafa Nadal Tennis Center to Open in Indonesia's Samara Lombok
Rafa Nadal Academy is partnering with Samara Lombok, a 150‑hectare coastal resort on Lombok island, to launch the first Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in Southeast Asia. The centre, slated to open in the first quarter of 2028, will feature four tennis courts and four padel courts and will offer training programmes for children, youth and adults based on the methodology developed by Rafael Nadal and his team.
Samara Lombok co‑founder Steve Ebsworth said the development aims to be a “playground in the truest sense,” while Rafa Nadal Academy deputy general manager Maribel Nadal highlighted the project’s role in bringing the academy’s model to new generations worldwide. The tennis centre will sit at the heart of a broader resort plan that includes three boutique hotels, up to 500 villas, a marine‑biology and watersports hub, and a football training facility.
The new Indonesia location adds to the academy’s existing network, which includes flagship sites in Mallorca and Kuwait as well as centres in Mexico, Greece, Hong Kong, Marbella, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, and a forthcoming project in Brazil.
