Rafael Amargo detained after home invasion in Madrid

Flamenco singer Rafael Amargo and his partner, Luciana Bongianino, were involved in a violent incident at their home in the Carbanchel district of Madrid. According to police reports, an intruder broke into the residence armed with a knife after Bongianino had made several calls to authorities reporting a man threatening the singer.

During the confrontation, Amargo was detained after allegedly biting a National Police officer who attempted to intervene between him and the assailant.

Following his detention, Amargo released a statement through his representative requesting privacy and dignity. He expressed concern over how the incident was handled, questioning whether there was police malpractice and asking why the focus was placed on his person rather than the fact that he had called for help while feeling defenseless. He also requested that the media stop linking the incident to his past legal issues.
