Rafael Cruz honored for strengthening Dominican textile industry

The Dominican Association of Textile Manufacturers (Asotedom) presented a special recognition to Rafael Cruz Rodríguez, director general of the Center for Development and Industrial Competitiveness (Proindustria), for his contributions to the country's textile sector and support for micro, small and medium‑size manufacturing firms. The award was handed over by Asotedom president Felipe Isa, who praised Cruz’s personal assistance to the industry during challenging moments.

Cruz noted that the honor coincided with the 90th anniversary of the Dominican Industrial Registry, a milestone he says underscores the importance of improving the registry’s transparency and reliability. He highlighted the registry’s reform as a priority of his tenure, aiming to provide a clearer tool for public‑policy formulation and to boost the competitiveness of Dominican industry, including textiles. The director dedicated the recognition to the Proindustria technical team, especially the Industry Support Services and Registration and Qualification units.
