Rafael Dudamel expresses desire to manage Colombia national team

Deportivo Cali manager Rafael Dudamel has stated that managing the Colombian national football team is a professional dream. In an interview with Caracol Radio’s El VBar, the Venezuelan coach explained that while he aspires to lead the national side in the future, he is not currently presenting himself as a candidate or attempting to displace the incumbent manager.

Dudamel expressed significant respect for current head coach Néstor Lorenzo, describing him as a “great coach.” He noted that his comments are focused on long-term career goals and building the necessary merits to eventually qualify for such a position, rather than an immediate pursuit of the role.

The 53-year-old strategist has a strong history in Colombian football, having achieved success with clubs like Deportivo Cali and Atlético Bucaramanga, as well as managing Venezuelan youth and senior national teams. Currently, Néstor Lorenzo remains under contract with Colombia through 2030.
