Rafael Márquez announces coaching staff for Mexican National Team

The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) has officially announced the coaching staff for Rafael Márquez, who will lead the Mexican National Team through the 2030 World Cup cycle.

The technical staff includes assistants Juan Manuel Lillo, Andrés Guardado, and Vidal Paloma. Lillo brings extensive international experience, including time as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Guardado, the player with the most appearances in the history of the national team, transitions from his playing career to a technical role.

Specialists rounding out the team include Xabier Mancisidor as goalkeeper coach, following a long tenure at Manchester City, and Pol Lorente, who continues as the physical trainer.

Márquez is scheduled to make his debut with the new staff during a series of friendly matches in late September and early October, including fixtures against Colombia, Peru, Chile, and the United States.
