Aeroméxico investigates potential leak of 15 million customer records
The Mexican Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno is investigating a potential massive leak of personal data allegedly linked to Aeroméxico. The investigation was triggered after authorities detected a post on Telegram on September 18, 2026, in which an unidentified user offered a database weighing approximately 1.10 GB and containing over 15 million records.
A forensic sample of 100,092 records obtained by the agency includes full names, email addresses, telephone and cell phone numbers, dates of birth, and registration dates. The sample reportedly contains the names of various public servants and prominent public figures, including Marcelo Ebrard, Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas, and Ricardo Monreal, among others.
Aeroméxico has launched its own exhaustive investigation to verify the authenticity of the information and determine the scope of any impact. The airline stated that preliminary technical analyses have not identified any exposure of financial information, payment card data, or account passwords, including those for the Aeroméxico Rewards program. The company also noted that its commercial and flight operations remain unaffected and has advised customers to remain vigilant against unusual communications requesting personal or financial data.
