Rafael Pavarotti exhibition showcases vibrant fashion photography
A retrospective exhibition is showcasing the work of photographer Rafael Pavarotti, highlighting his fifteen-year career in high-fashion photography. Known for his vibrant use of color and focus on Black models, Pavarotti’s work has been featured in major publications such as Vogue, W Magazine, and The New York Times, and for luxury houses including Dior, Chanel, and Balenciaga.
The exhibition at MAD features 130 prints, including magazine covers and portraits of icons like Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Harry Styles. The collection also explores his creative process, from initial sketches to final magazine layouts. Pavarotti, who draws inspiration from his Brazilian upbringing and the light of the Amazon, made history in 2020 by photographing the first Dior campaign composed entirely of Black models.
