Rafael van der Vaart discusses relationship with ex-wife Sylvie Meis

Former professional footballer Rafael van der Vaart shared insights into his personal life and relationship with his ex-wife, Sylvie Meis, during an appearance on the “Phrasenmäher” podcast.

Van der Vaart discussed the current positive relationship he maintains with Meis, more than 13 years after their separation. During the podcast, a recorded message from Meis was played, in which she asked him about moments he felt particularly proud of their son, Damián.

Additionally, van der Vaart spoke about his long-term relationship with handball player Estavana Polman. He revealed that he had proposed to Polman via SMS early in their relationship, though they have not married. The couple, who share a daughter, Jesslyn, announced they are expecting a son.
