Rafaela marks 100 years of the historic 500 Miles Argentine car race

The city of Rafaela in Santa Fe province hosted the 27th edition of the historic "500 Miles Argentinas" race, celebrating its centenary with a three‑day programme of vintage‑car rallies, classic‑motorbike displays and family activities. More than 20 restored vehicles from across Argentina and a team from Uruguay took part, covering over 600 km on a route that visited dozens of towns before completing 31 laps on the city’s oval circuit.

The event was organised by Atlético de Rafaela together with the provincial Sub‑commission of Automovilism and received a declaration of National Tourist Interest from the national tourism secretary Daniel Scioli, as well as recognition from the Santa Fe Senate. Mayor Leonardo Viotti highlighted the cooperation between the municipality and the club, while officials praised the cultural and sporting significance of the centennial celebration.

In addition to the races, the programme featured running competitions, motorcycle exhibitions and other recreational initiatives designed to honour one of Argentina’s most emblematic motorsport traditions.
