Renewable energy and urban development projects expand in Spain, Mexico, and Peru

Various regional developments in renewable energy and urban management are underway across Spain, Mexico, and Peru. In Andalusia, Spain, the regional government is auctioning 15 lots of unused public land, including urban plots and industrial sites, to facilitate the construction of approximately 291 to 300 homes.

In the energy sector, several large-scale projects are advancing. In Mexico, the Tepetate Solar project has submitted environmental impact documentation for a 105 MW photovoltaic plant with battery storage in the State of Mexico, while an wind energy project in Alvarado has raised concerns regarding potential impacts on local bird and bat populations. In Peru, Grupo Enhol has secured $289 million in financing for the Illa solar plant in Arequipa, which is expected to be the largest in the country.

Additional energy initiatives include the deployment of a 25 MW lithium-iron-phosphate battery system at a phosphate mining complex in Morocco to reduce electricity costs, and the development of the Las Cruces I solar plant in Extremadura, Spain, which plans to integrate 35 battery containers for energy storage. Localized efforts also include collective solar consumption projects in Sant Cugat del Vallès and Lucena, as well as municipal solar installations in Santa María del Páramo.
