Raffaele Afeltra, Camorra boss, killed in ambush in Pimonte

Raffaele Afeltra, a 69-year-old historical Camorra boss associated with the Afeltra-Di Martino faction, was assassinated in an ambush in Pimonte, near Naples. The attack occurred in the Monti Lattari mountain area on a piece of land owned by the victim.

According to investigators, Afeltra, known by the nickname ‘O’ Burraccione’, was targeted while inside his vehicle. The assailants reportedly used a 12-gauge shotgun, firing multiple shots that left him with no chance of survival. Carabinieri from Castellammare di Stabia and the investigative unit of Torre Annunziata are conducting forensic work at the scene.

Authorities are investigating several motives, including potential clan warfare or internal purges within the Di Martino faction. Investigators are also looking into recent criminal tensions in the Vesuvian area and possible links to illegal drug activities in the Monti Lattari region. Afeltra had been out of prison for approximately three years following a previous sentence for extortion.
