While Lo Iacono stated that there are legal grounds for a defamation lawsuit, he has chosen to forgo court action to avoid prolonged litigation and instead seeks public clarification and institutional transparency.

Lo Iacono specifically refutes accusations regarding public lighting contracts and the Serre Territorial Pact. He asserts that the lighting contract was approved by the City Council and reviewed by the Prefecture of Vibo Valentia without findings of illegality. He has challenged Barillari to verify the facts personally before making claims based on unverified information.
