Raffi Ahmad named in Indonesian customs corruption probe

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that Indonesian celebrity Raffi Ahmad was mentioned in the investigation of alleged bribery and gratuity within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The case originates from a hand‑cuff operation on 4 February 2026 that led to the arrest of 17 people and the seizure of cash worth Rp5.19 billion.

Investigators said Ahmad visited the U.S. cargo company Blueray Cargo and consigned two electronic items to Indonesia. KPK officer Achmad Taufik Husein noted, “Betul, ada fakta saudara RA itu menitip,” but stressed that the activity has not been linked to smuggling and no formal summons has been issued.

Customs Director Djaka Budi Utama is also named in the indictment, accused of receiving a US$213,600 bribe. Ahmad hired lawyer Hotman Paris, warned on Instagram that false reports could lead to defamation (“Hati‑hati untuk yang membuat berita yang jauh dari cerita sebenar…”), and announced a press conference to address the matter.
