Rafik Belghali reveals rejecting Qatar offer to play for Algeria

Algerian international defender Rafik Belghali has revealed that he turned down an offer to play in Qatar to prioritize his professional development in Europe and his ambition to play for the Algerian national team.

Speaking to Torino FC’s official channels, the defender explained that while playing for FC Malines in Belgium, he received a lucrative offer from the Gulf during a period when he was recovering from an injury. Belghali chose to remain in Europe to build a stronger career and pursue his dream of representing Algeria.

This decision proved successful as he eventually joined Torino FC and participated in the World Cup, where he scored his first goal for his country in a match against Austria. Belghali described the World Cup experience as the best moment of his career.
