Rafina-Pikermi Mayor meets Beijing's Changping District delegation

Dimitra Tseva, the Mayor of Rafina-Pikermi, hosted a six-member delegation from the Changping District of Beijing on September 7, 2026. The meeting served as an introductory session to exchange experiences between the two regions.

During the visit, Vice Mayor Vasilis Bournias presented the profile of Rafina-Pikermi, highlighting its administrative structure, social services, and development priorities. Key topics included the municipality's participation in the European CLIMAAX program, which focuses on climate risk assessment and disaster prevention planning. The presentation also covered the region's historical and cultural identity, including its paleontological significance, local production, and the strategic role of the Port of Rafina as a maritime gateway to the Aegean islands.

The Chinese delegation, led by Chen Xiang, General Director of Communications for Changping, presented the development and cultural profile of their district. They highlighted Changping's status as a region where historical heritage, such as the Ming Dynasty Imperial Tombs, coexists with modern scientific research, education, and technological innovation.
