Rafina Port congestion addressed by Greek Minister

Greek Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, has initiated a dialogue to address severe congestion at the Port of Rafina and within the surrounding urban area. Following a meeting with the Mayor of Rafina-Pikermi, Dimitra Tseva-Mila, the CEO of the Rafina Port Organization, and leadership from the Hellenic Coast Guard, officials are examining new regulations to manage the port's capacity.

Proposed measures include reorganizing vessel arrivals and departures through specific time zones to prevent the simultaneous concentration of ships, passengers, and vehicles. Discussions also covered the number of vessels permitted to overnight at the port to improve safety and reduce urban overcrowding. The Minister stated that a subsequent meeting will be held with representatives from ferry companies to implement these solutions and improve the quality of life for local residents.
