Raghubir Yadav discusses challenging role in ‘Hunkkaar’

Veteran actor Raghubir Yadav has described his role in the web series ‘Hunkkaar: The Roar’ as an emotionally and physically taxing experience. In the series, which is streaming on JioHotstar, Yadav portrays Sunil ‘Baapji’ Chakosi, a spiritual leader accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.

Yadav stated that playing a character so contrary to his own ideologies and life was ‘very painful’. He noted that his method of deep immersion in roles caused physical strain, including an increased heartbeat, which was particularly concerning given his history with a stent procedure. He described the process of portraying the character's actions and the resulting suffering of others as feeling like he was ‘fighting death every day’.

The series also features Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aneet Padda, Rajesh Sharma, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, following a legal and social battle triggered by the assault allegations.
