Brăila authorities investigate potential drone fragments found on agricultural land
Authorities in Romania are investigating the discovery of fragments from an object, potentially a drone, on agricultural land in the Brăila region near Gropeni. The incident was reported following a witness report of a falling object and a subsequent fire, which caused no casualties or material damage. The Ministry of National Defence (MApN) and the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) have secured the perimeter to analyze the remains. Notably, MApN radar systems did not report any unauthorized airspace penetrations during the night.
Separately, several residential fires have been reported across various Romanian counties. In Argeș, a fire caused by a suspected short circuit destroyed two houses and several outbuildings, resulting in one man being hospitalized with burns. In Cluj, a fire caused by an improperly insulated chimney affected a residence and an outbuilding. Other incidents include a fire in Negrilești that destroyed an outbuilding and killed 25 chickens, and a fatal fire in Dubăsari, Moldova, where a 59-year-old man was found dead.
In Albota, Argeș, pyrotechnic teams were deployed to remove a 100mm explosive projectile dating from World War II.
