Ragıp Vural Tandoğan achieves historic Triple Crown at Lake Tahoe

Ragıp Vural Tandoğan has become the first Turkish swimmer to achieve the ‘Triple Crown’ at Lake Tahoe in the United States. He is only the ninth person in the world to complete this feat.

Tandoğan, who began swimming at age 50 to lose weight, transitioned from pool training to open water marathons after participating in the Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race trials. His achievement at Lake Tahoe involved completing three separate crossings of 19, 17, and 34 kilometers within a 14-day period, totaling 70 kilometers.

The challenge was intensified by the lake's high altitude of approximately 2,000 meters, which reduces oxygen levels and increases heart rates. Tandoğan noted that he was the first athlete in the world to complete these specific crossings within a 14-day window.
