Ragusa area receives 50 million euros for 50 urban projects

The Sicilian Region has approved a funding program exceeding 50 million euros to support 50 projects across six municipalities within the Ragusa Functional Urban Area (Fua). The participating municipalities include Ragusa, Vittoria, Modica, Scicli, Santa Croce Camerina, and Giarratana.

Local mayors have signed the preliminary disciplinary documents to ensure financial coverage for the operations. These funds will allow municipalities to proceed with tenders for works, services, and supplies for validated executive projects.

Key urban regeneration and redevelopment initiatives include: - Ragusa: De-impermeabilization of Piazza Lupis, creation of an urban agricultural park, and a Rural Center at the former freight yard. - Modica: Regeneration of the commercial hub and a new intermodal area in San Giovanni. - Santa Croce Camerina: Urban regeneration of Via degli Atleti, the municipal stadium area, and an intermodal area in Punta Secca. - Scicli: Development of the San Nicolò urban park and interventions on the Donnalucata seaside.
