Ragusa displays anti-violence flag in municipal Council Chamber
The municipality of Ragusa has displayed the flag of the national ANCI campaign, ‘Against violence against women – Never a white flag,’ within its Council Chamber (Sala Giunta). This symbolic gesture aims to bring the issue of gender-based violence into the heart of the city's decision-making processes.
Ragusa officially joined the campaign in March 2026, a movement promoted by the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) and the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Since joining, the administration has engaged in various awareness initiatives and meetings in collaboration with local organizations, including the Municipal Women's Council, the Municipal Youth Council, the Casa delle Donne di Ragusa, and CAV Il Pettirosso.
Mayor Peppe Cassì, accompanied by councilors Elvira Adamo and Catia Pasta, participated in the ceremony. Cassì stated that displaying the flag is not merely a formal act but a “precise political and moral commitment,” serving as a daily reminder to administrators and citizens that the protection of rights and people is a priority that cannot be ignored.
