Ragusa doctors' strike leads to August 4 health authority talks

On July 31, around 70% of primary‑care clinics in the province of Ragusa closed as general‑practice doctors staged a strike and a sit‑in in Piazza Igea. The protest, organised by the unions Fimmg, Fmt and Snami, highlighted concerns over growing bureaucratic burdens, long waiting lists and delays in implementing functional territorial aggregations (AFT) under the PNRR health reform.

In response, the provincial health authority (ASP) and the Conference of Mayors have scheduled a meeting for August 4. The meeting will be attended by the ASP Director General Giuseppe Drago and representatives of the doctors’ unions, aiming to open a structured dialogue on the identified issues and seek solutions for territorial medicine in Ragusa.
